Particularly as organizations in financial services, retail, health care, and other consumer-facing industries look to integrate artificial intelligence into their products and services quickly, privacy-by- design principles are becoming increasingly critical to achieving safe, risk-resilient growth. This balancing act between accelerated technology development and data privacy best practices was a key priority for a large retail company as it implemented new forms of AI across business units and consumer interfaces. The company had a strong culture of privacy ingrained within its large team of in-house developers and data scientists. Still, it was also attentive to avoiding delays that could result from a comprehensive review and legal procedures.
