Finalist / L I F E T I M E A C H I E V E M E N T A W A R D Todd's involvement with ILTA has been critical to his career. He began his legal tech career as Manager of Training at Shearman & Sterling in the early 1980s, when technology was still making inroads at law firms. LawNet, later ILTA, provided a peer group willing to share knowledge and experience, offering support, encouragement, and camaraderie. Todd has learned valuable lessons from vendor contacts and has been part of a community devoted to excellence in law through technology. Todd has presented at various conferences, including ILTACON and other ILTA conferences and educational events, and participated in panels and conference planning for events such as LegalSEC, the CIO Executive Summit, ABA Tech Show, and GearUP. He led a session on Chatbots at ILTACON 2024 and was involved in sessions on security, GenAI, and training. Todd's development and ongoing improvements to what has become the most important and widely used technology survey in the legal industry, ILTA's Annual Tech Survey, have been remarkable. Year after year, he has led this endeavor from a volunteer perspective, tirelessly reviewing questions and topics for inclusion in the survey, responding to inquiries, analyzing results, writing executive summaries, and presenting the findings to various members. He has exceeded expectations around longevity in a volunteer role, providing continuity and historical trending every year. In his tenure on the survey, Todd's goal has always been to adhere to the survey team's guiding principle: Deliver insights that are most useful to the reader. Beyond his contributions to ILTA, Todd has mentored dozens of legal technologists, guiding them in navigating the evolving intersection of law and technology and understanding how to communicate their roles to business leaders. Todd has fostered a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous learning through one-on-one mentorship, panel discussions, and conference engagements.
