It returns a responsiveness prediction and a citation to the text in the document on which the prediction is based. That way, you can review the citation and the prediction together to see why it made a particular determination. It also provides a rationale for why it made that prediction and considers other avenues to think about when it comes to responsiveness. Requiring a generative language model to first offer a citation, then a rationale, and finally considerations ensures a structured approach to information processing that enhances transparency and reliability, as each link in the generated chain of thought builds on the previous one to form a comprehensive and trustworthy conclusion. Additionally, the AI is no longer a black box; instead, the reviewer can understand why the AI classified the document as it did. The use of Gen AI is only just beginning – before getting started on this journey, make sure to ask the right questions of the technology provider you are evaluating so that you understand the benefits and risks.
