We have seen movement over time from a definite cost center with litigation support technology being part of the firm's tech stack, to now a 40% / 40% / 17% split with most firms operating as a profit center or in a hybrid model. The main driver could likely be the move to the cloud - as technology budgets move from the balance sheet for on-premises software assets over to the income/expense statements for SaaS models -- the likely result would be the goal in cost recovery. Business Model for Litigation Support What is your favorite way to learn? by Mike Quartararo You're never too old or too young to learn something new. Indeed, infants start learning as soon as they are born, and as a person of a certain age, it is not possible to count the new things I've learned as I have gotten older. As the leader of an educational organization, I am hyper-focused on providing a meaningful educational experience to students at all points in their learning journey. The key is to understand how learners want to learn. The 2023 ILTA Litigation Support Survey asked respondents about their preferences related to training. "What training formats are most beneficial to you?" is the question posed this year. By far, most respondents (47%) indicated that webinars are their preferred form of education. A distant second was in-person training (22%) and rounding out the top 3 preferences were conferences and seminars (18%). For sure, people also read articles, and attend workshops and roundtables, too. But that was a small percentage of respondents. ILTA and many other organizations are huge proponents of education, and in today's world, it is easier than ever before to find meaningful educational content.
