ILTA's Spring and Summer were especially busy this year! Since we last "spoke," ILTA has seated a new Board of Directors, announced and previewed a new Strategic Plan, hosted LegalSEC Summit, conducted our Distinguished Peer Awards, and held that little annual educational conference we call ILTACON! Whew! I am writing this the week after ILTACON, and my level of exhilaration (with maybe a little exhaustion) is unabated! So much energy! What were some of the highlights for me? • First, I love how ILTACON brings our entire community together! Members – of course! Business Partners? Absolutely! But also press, investors, consultants, start-ups, and affiliates. Standard-setting organizations held board and member meetings. Key business partners conducted customer advisory council meetings. • Second, it is wonderful seeing people connect on so many levels! Our revived Corporate Legal Days – in a wonderful collaboration with CLOC – allowed our Corporate members to talk about issues specific to their organizations. However, those same people also connected across different groups based on role, common providers, and geography. • Third, there was so much new tech! New providers, naturally. But also tons of offerings from well-established, trusted providers. I may be an association executive these days, but there is tons of geek left in me!!! When I think about the themes emerging from ILTACON, five rise to the top. • AI, AI everywhere, and more than a drop to drink! It is not a surprise that two of the top 10 most-attended sessions at ILTACON focused on Large Language Models and Generative AI. However, the conversation was way more than theoretical, including case studies around AI in the business of law. • Despite the cool new tech, our members still need to keep the lights on and our core tech purring like a kitten. Four of our top 10 sessions were focused Joy Heath Rush joy@iltanet.org T H E R E ' S M O R E O N L I N E !
