The goal is to feed the models a more legal-specific body of data for generating more accurate answers in a legal context. Other companies are developing automated tools that would help users validate and verify information pulled from GAI–which will become especially useful for legal research and case-building. Some are even building proprietary AI from the ground up to more tightly control the data set used and ultimately improve performance and data security. In its more mature, monetized form, GAI promises to be a powerful tool for legal work, particularly as we see the LLM interfaces evolved to accept larger inputs. While it might seem better to wait until we get to the stage where others have worked out the kinks and there is more regulation in place to guide implementation, there will likely never be a "right time" to implement it because it will continue to evolve. Instead, with a clear compliance strategy and training in place, GAI can be used now as a powerful tool for accomplishing your goals sooner rather than later. It can help you deliver more value to clients in the now, if used correctly – with caution, and a clear set of guardrails to keep it on the road to reliability.
