The respondents continue to follow traditional work flows with technology assisted review (TAR) options having a 'No Answer' as the second highest method. That is telling in the retention of traditional work flow (linear and non- TAR) and supports non-technology review methods. Traditional QC techniques persist in this years' results with database tag checks and family reconciliation as the top used method. • Production format - Likewise the production quality control relies on database tools and searches to check productions. PDF production format continues to lead image types for production, without text/ metadata included with productions. • • Transcript Management - the options and choices for transcript management continues to rely on specialized software – as transcript / exhibit management is a specific function of litigation support. OPUS2 continues to be the predominant market leader. For transcripts and trial presentation, these niche programs are not universally used – there are mostly N/A and No Answer replies for these questions. Over the past few years, the survey responses to the data security questions have migrated from on demand or a lack of standardization to mandatory / default functions for all data. I suspect the responses of No Answer or No around scanning incoming data are the result of it being an IT function that happens automatically without any litigation support input. Most firms provide that scanning as data arrives - with litigation support scanning specifically at the time container files are opened or not at all. The risk of having outside data on a firm network are considerable, so data security policies continue to restrict the sharing of data in an unsecured method. As many firms address the in-office work policies, we continue to see a Hybrid structure with litigation support. This can be the result of many firms still in transition with hybrid models and the plan to return to the office – or as a permanent policy. It is notable that one of our challenges is to find and retain talent, and that about half of the respondents will seek remote positions if faced with a 100% office policy. Future surveys will hopefully tell the rest of this story about how returning to offices affects long-term litigation support departments. For these results there was a 70:30 mix of supervisors to non-supervisory roles with the vast majority of these responding they are supported by their firm, feel connected to co-workers and are able to maintain a successful work-life balance. The results for all questions are provided for your evaluation in the white paper - for future survey questions, if you have any feedback or wish to provide input in the 2023 survey – please let me know. We cannot thank our respondents enough and are researching how we can engage more legal professionals who may not be dedicated to support to provide well-rounded results that can be actionable by most, if not all, ILTA members.
