3 I L T A N E T . O R G Q&A What makes a good digital event or conference? Ginevra Saylor: The best virtual conferences I have attended incorporate the time and effective means for meaningful opportunities to interact with the presenters and other people in attendance. Having the opportunity to set up ad hoc meetings with small groups of fellow attendees is a big bonus. Kara Portwood: A good digital event or conference contains two things: engaging content and the ability to "connect" with peers. Digital will always play a significant role in the event and conference space from this point forward. I believe being willing to try new things, as an attendee, is important to your overall digital experience. Jack Thompson: A good connection – technically and professionally. Good connections come when the thought process kicks in and listening to the words of colleagues, advise, and sentiment is heard. Establishing a link to actively listen as well as absorb the content (whether digitally or in-person) make the success. Chris Hunt: A great overall experience – high-quality and relevant content, opportunities to connect and network with peers and business partners, and an environment that makes consuming content and connections easy and seamless. Tony McKenna: A few things: 1. Simple to use/understand platform. 2. Working AV is a must! 3. Some way of engaging with others, I really missed the corridor catch up from ILTAOn as an example. Chris Boyd: Among many other components, having organized online breakout rooms, so as to meet and talk with people, get practical takeaways, and build relationships. James McKenna: Timely and excellent content, being spoken "to" and not "at", and speakers with whom I can relate. I vastly prefer in-person but one thing about "digital" I adore is the running commentary in chat. Joy Heath Rush: Content, and an easy way to "continue the conversation," either by person or topic.
