Bill Caraher Chief Information Officer von Briesen & Roper, s.c. The von Briesen Genius Bar Our firm recently built out new headquarters. With the firm's focus on making it a great place to work, the training center needed to be something special. We didn't want the traditional rows of tables and chairs with a standard whiteboard or projector. We wanted an environment with a great energy and vibe — in other words, I envisioned an Apple store in the middle of our law firm! While we didn't put in a glass staircase, we did build our own Genius Bar and high-tech computer training room complete with magnetic glass, red boards and counter-height seating. With the new room, we relaunched our von Briesen University. Instead of trying to get attorneys to adapt to traditional classroom methods, we turned training on its head. We now deliver skills-based training in five-minute, oneon-one sessions, once a week. Attorneys love the format, and the limited session availability keeps them looking forward to new topics each week. The von Briesen Genius Bar has been a great hit, and we are invigorated by the positive feedback and great attorney participation in this inviting new space! 42 Peer to Peer
