O R G • increasing diversity across ILTA's leadership and volunteer leadership roles, • advancing engagement among historically marginalized and underrepresented groups, • delivering more educational programs reinforcing the importance DEI and demonstrating how DEI efforts will strengthen ILTA and ensure it remains vital and successful in the years ahead, and • developing metrics for measuring and reporting progress Looking ahead In the short term, ILTA's DEITF has committed to establish priorities and undertake a first set of initiatives that measurably advance DEI over the course of the year. In the long term, ILTA seeks to be a positive example, and even become a beacon, for member and partner organizations to follow in seeking to improve their own DEI efforts. Bringing this vision to life requires tremendous effort, dedication, and continuous improvement. Using our baseline to track and report metrics, along with frequent communication and transparency also will play a critical role in moving ILTA closer to reaching its goal. In the next article in this series, we discuss why diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to the legal technology community, ILTA's membership and business partners, and ILTA as a professional association. ILTA Karina Willes is aSenior Project Manager at Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a passionate and award-winning diversity and inclusion advocate, communication researcher and instructor, proven project management professional, and an internet/intranet strategist. Her professional experience includes teaching both online and in- person organizational communications courses, non-profit board membership, and information technology project management, with a foundation of experience in internal communication, web design/ development, customer service, and marketing. Ginevra Saylor is the National Director, Innovation and Knowledge Programs at Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP. She s an experienced legal knowledge management, innovation, technology and practice management professional and driven leader with demonstrated expertise in building strategies for innovation, knowledge management, client solutions, technology adoption, and process improvement. An actively licensed member of the Ontario and Pennsylvania Bars, she also has extensive and varied past experience as a litigator, legal writer, and educator in the US, Canada and Greece. She is a creative thinker best known for quickly turning vision into practical results and bringing out the best and most in others. She is a dynamic and frequent speaker and published author on the law, legal practice, innovation, legal technology, and related topics. We are pleased and proud to deliver the results of ILTA's first DEI Climate Survey! It was designed to assess whether members of the ILTA community perceive ILTA as being true to its values.
