What leadership skill do you
think is most important in a
#legaltechnologist?
James McKenna: I would say both understanding the "big picture". It's really important to know
what is most valued, critical, and impactful as you identify, prioritize, and respond to opportunities and
challenges. Time, talent, and resources are finite; it's imperative we are always working in alignment with
the big picture.
Ginevra Saylor: The most important skill is the ability to ask questions and actively listen to the answers
you receive.
Chris Hunt: EMPATHY! Understanding the experiences of our team, of our employees, and of our end-
users, whether those experiences are good, bad and everything in between, is so critical to ensuring we
are all building toward a good user and customer experience, which will increase the adoption of new and
existing tools and resources in our increasingly complex environment. We need to constantly put ourselves
in the shoes of others, and see things through multiple lenses.
Angela Dowd: The most important skill is to be highly collaborative. Actively engaging your team and
your organization leads more diverse voices and experiences and better results for your projects/goals.
Jack Thompson: Ability to recognize potential in others and help them harness that potential into
excellence.
Kara Portwood: The most important skill, I think, is being able to be communicative and keep learning.
Chris Boyd: The classic Good to Great (Jim Collins) advice about driving the bus. Get the right people on
the bus, the right people in the right seats, and the wrong people off the bus, and you'll figure out how to
take the bus someplace great.
