f you're like me, you've seen your screen time usage go up since the
pandemic started. After I finish work for the day, put the kids to bed,
and have no other duties, I enter the endless scroll of Instagram, and
then Facebook, and then LinkedIn, and then if I'm feeling like I need
to be more like a robot, TikTok. It's my way to "turn off," connect
with those who I wish I could see in person, and maybe even learn something
new or fun. No, I have not memorized any TikTok dances this past year or
made my kids.
According to the Hootsuite.com Digital 2021 report, the number
of social media users has grown by 490 million over the past 12 months,
delivering year-on-year growth of more than 13%. The number of social media
users is now equivalent to more than 53% of the world's total population.
In previous years, we may have thought mobile devices and social media
were pulling individuals apart, but this past year, people are using them to
stay together. That is why you may have noticed ILTA using more social media
platforms to reach you where you scroll. Whether it's in LinkedIn Stories, IG
Stories, IGTV, YouTube, or Facebook, you'll find ILTA.
