He joined the firm in 1998 as part of its Y2K audit team. Nussbaum then became a full-time engineer, holding every position within the department before taking on an account management role. During his tenure with Keno Kozie, Nussbaum has focused on physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure design and implementation for both infrastructure and client environments. it's cheaper to grow ingredients than buy gourmet cakes, but you're ignoring underlying costs like land to grow your grain on and a mill to turn that grain into flour. Another consideration is underlying support functions. Who's managing your IT infrastructure and optimizing it for your organization? When you outsource, things like PTO, management training, security awareness training and HR are taken off your plate and become the responsibility of your provider. They have the appropriate resources, expertise and equipment you require, and you have the luxury of accessing them only as needed, knowing they'll be scaled for you as you grow and change. Finally, there's the critical issue of security. Cybersecurity threats are at an all-time high. Specialist providers deal with these issues every day and are better able to quickly resolve them when they arise. When you handle it on your own, all of your problems call for time and attention that is already in high demand. Meanwhile security risks either remain unaddressed or pull resources from other issues that require attention. Looking Ahead When the pandemic turned business-as-usual on its head, some firms immediately turned to the cloud. Others cobbled together a number of different measures designed to address problems in the short term, many of which would have been easier with the cloud. This year, firms' comfort level with cloud solutions will only grow. Instead of asking if the cloud is the right answer, we'll see the calculus shift to asking why wouldn't the cloud be the right answer. The cloud has proven to be the best way to weather the recent storm. Working with experts in the cloud space as opposed to trying to build everything yourself is the best approach for long-term success.
