Then – BAM! Priorities changed; timelines shortened, and roles transformed. The part Knowledge Management played within a firm advanced overnight. The biennial surveys serve to show us trends in KM, and how law firms are growing. However, COVID-19 impacted the progression of KM tremendously. The results show an incredible uptick in collaboration tools – Microsoft Teams (77%), Zoom (66%) – blowing up in usage were minimal considerations only two years ago. SharePoint (55%) and Skype (44%), the 2018 leaders, still held on strong, too. Most notably, remote working moved KM team members from a centralized location covering multiple locations (50% in 2018) to largely virtual teams spread out and supporting multiple offices (54%; increasing by 26% over 2018).
