The Windows Snipping Tool is included with Windows 10 and allows
for basic screen captures with freeform highlighting and drawing. The
Snipping Tool also allows for sending the capture by email and saving in
image format or copy/past to insert into another document:
Snagit is a full-feature screen capture and recording software. It
allows for far more flexibility with screen captures. It not only allows you to
draw shapes around pertinent areas of the screenshot but also offers other
convenient features such as numbering options for step-by-step instructions
as well as pre-loaded icons, for added emphasis.
Snagit includes a scrolling feature that can capture entire drop-down
lists, supports recording instructions and videos which are great for training
purposes. Entire step-by-step instructions can also be recorded in a video to
prepare great tutorials for your team.
Hypersnap is a free alternative offering many features including
enhanced annotations, picture editor, capture of drop-down lists and many
others. Although it's ease of use is not comparable to Snagit, it is worth
getting familiar with.
