One client group had so many plans we grouped them into three main areas and assigned a project manager to them. The Market Opportunities ultimately had over 50 projects in development. We believe this volume of projects in such a short period had a lot to do with governance and messaging. As well, the leads on each vertical reached out directly to our practice and industry group leaders to go over the initiative's goals, provide examples, and engage them on ideas for their members. This proactive, one-on-one approach worked brilliantly, as we could record ideas, names, and get them set up in Teams within hours. I know when the dust settles and we come out on the other side of the pandemic, McCarthy will be more efficient, more inclusive, and even better prepared to serve clients. The Saturn Initiative engaged all firm members. While timekeepers focused on clients, markets, and knowledge, our legal assistants, IT, HR, and document services and brought their considerable talents to bear on Saturn. Debra Francis, Legal Assistant, Business Law: When I first learned about the Saturn Initiative I thought, WOW, I am so fortunate to work for McCarthy Tétrault and to work with all these clever people figuring out ways to both engage their employees and move the firm forward during this frightening pandemic. It brought me great hope for my future and for the future of the firm. Davida Gragor, Coordinator, Finance, seconded to the Internal Opportunities vertical: The Saturn initiative has given me the opportunity to meet people and form friendships outside of the departments I usually work with. Being a part of Saturn, I've been able F E A T U R E S "But the more interesting part of Saturn is its profound effect on our people."
