45 I L T A N E T . O R G available to everyone working from anywhere, means less risk and greater productivity. • The need to increase coverage from what individual users could do – automating processes allows more test cases to be run, more documents to be reviewed or created, and by a broad and distributed workforce. • Staff cuts and furloughs, so there are not people to do the repetitive work. • The notion is that you typically have back office depts whose entire existence is working in a room together, such as Accounting and Docketing - these departments where everyone sits in a cube farm, they worked physical closely together, many doing the same tasks. Splitting up those teams has made it harder for them to be as productive as they were. Where you had 30 people in a single space, now you have 30 separate end points. Taking some of those processes that have historically done in the "hive" and automating them, centralizes some of those repetitive tasks, and decreases the management load. That can mean improved productivity and quality of mundane tasks, while reducing risk. The need for automation has grown from a ripple on the water to a tidal wave. We have little choice but to do new things if we want to mitigate the risks associated with a largely distributed workforce and WFA philosophy. Automation can be one of those new things that makes a difference for your organization, for your attorneys and your IT and QA staff. ILTA
