I
n fall of 2019, Microsoft announced the
merger of System Center Configuration
Manager (aka "SCCM" or "ConfigMgr")
and Intune into a unified solution under
the Microsoft Endpoint Manager
offering. In aligning these two parallel platforms,
Microsoft 365 customers can ensure a seamless
management of devices anytime and anywhere.
To facilitate implementation, Microsoft announced
license parity between ConfigMgr and Intune, so
if you are licensed to manage Windows devices
in ConfigMgr today you are also licensed to co-
manage those devices with Intune. What follows is
a brief overview of the latest desktop management
capabilities included in Microsoft Endpoint
Manager. Most of the items discussed are available
today as part of either ConfigMgr or Intune and
are likely covered under your existing Microsoft
enterprise licensing (check with your Microsoft
account representative if you have questions)!
