A Repository of
Software QA Tools at
your Fingertips
A
little over 7 years ago a project was
started to create a "Legal Systems"
Test Repository (LSTR). Olenick
(a recognized leader in Software
Quality Assurance) provided their
test authoring services to ILTA, wherein they would
develop and maintain this repository. A consortium of
ILTA member law firms made their systems available for
developing the test scripts and the repository was born.
Located within the ILTA Quality Assurance
Community - the community library currently houses
a broad set of test cases for the core Legal Office Stack of
Applications. These test cases allow a small or medium-
sized firm (who doesn't have internal Quality Assurance
(QA) resources or can't afford to outsource QA) access to
enough test cases to achieve a level of risk mitigation in
their critical legal applications. It is also used by larger
firms as a starting point for building their own test suite
or to enhance what they have already in place for their
specific test cases. The LSTR includes instructions on
using the test cases as well as a basic defect log. For each
application, there is a templated spreadsheet including the
Test Cases for that application, along with the step-by-step
actions to be taken and expected results. It provides space
to record whether the test step passed, any defects and the
actual results.
The test cases cover numerous products in the
following categories:
• Document Management
• Document Assembly / Templates
• Document Comparison
• Metadata Scrubbing
• Numbering
• PDF products
• Time Entry
