Current State of the Project Today, the application has been built out for Illinois and Missouri and evaluations are underway to expand B-Ceen's footprint. Both firms are actively collaborating on identifying and engaging new partners, socializing the solution, and working with the community to outline recommended next steps. Future Plans B-Ceen is a work in progress and will require collaboration with other partners to succeed. Future goals include: • Scaling the program to include all 50 states, • Adding information pertaining to other issues affecting the LGBTQ* community. (i.e. how are transgender individuals affected by these laws, how the issues change when same-sex couples deliver outside of the USA and are hoping to return) • Creating a mobile application • Mapping to hospitals ranking highly on Human Rights Campaign's equality index • Linking to community outreach opportunities While there are several paths this solution could ultimately take, one certainty remains: until state and federal laws are harmonized to allow for equal treatment, same-sex couples will continue to face unpredictable circumstances regarding their parental rights. This is NOT in the best interest of the children, and parents deserve to know the facts regarding their rights and how to protect those rights. Our hope with B-Ceen is to provide a means to better equip these parents by simplifying the process for obtaining this critical information in one location, accessible anywhere. Likewise, we hope that by illustrating how law firms can work together on issues universally viewed as important and worthy of our efforts, we can usher in a new era of collaboration and innovation in how our industry approaches diversity & inclusion.
