Before we close, I will give you my newest thoughts on servant leadership. It has been my privilege to serve the ILTA community during these past months. One of my key takeaways is how important it is for leaders to be constantly learning. Learning is certainly consistent with the mission of ILTA – education and networking are, after all, the two areas where we serve. But in terms of servant leadership, learning is about always being open to change, always being respectful of the past but enthusiastic about the future, and listening to the needs of others. Then we can be assured of taking the right lessons from our experiences and using those in service of others. So let us know what you need as legal technologists and how we can better serve you. As the quote says, "the best way to predict the future is to invent it." See you in the Winter issue! For more great insight on the new ILTA CEO, listen along online as she sits down for another CEO podcast! iltanet.org/fall-2019 Joy Heath Rush CEO F or the past 11 months, I have been talking about firsts. Today, I have three more 'firsts' areas I want to talk about: How about my first ILTACON as CEO?! I am still flying high! So many friends! So many new connections! If you attended the Monday morning opening, you know that I called ILTACON our annual family reunion. So true! What else about ILTACON 2019? We had a few firsts of our own there: a dedicated Litigation Support Day with 30 unique topics(!!), a full-day Law Firm 101 track, fully- facilitated collaboration sessions across nine affinity groups. And, speaking of firsts, we were thrilled to have 800 first- time attendees! Even though our ILTACON green initiative was not a first, we took it to a new level. We did the same with our social responsibility activities, providing speakers four options for charitable donations in lieu of a speaker gift and allowing attendees to donate their "winnings" from Tuesday night's games to charity. In all, ILTACON generated over $3,000 in charity donations! What was NOT a first for ILTACON were the fantastic educational sessions, the amazing networking opportunities, and the FUN! Our second first (can you tell I'm just not going to let this go?) is our new strategic plan. The Board is purposefully seeking input from a wide range of ILTAns via focus groups, interviews, and collaboration sessions. The efforts of our Membership and the Diversity and Inclusion Task Forces will provide critical recommendations around ILTA's future. Our new strategic plan – which will be unveiled at ILTACON 2020 – will carry us well into the new decade with ener, commitment, and goals to keep ILTA vibrant! Our last important first today is this issue of Peer to Peer. Earlier this year, ILTA adopted an eighth core value – to foster diversity and inclusion throughout the ILTA community. In the spirit of that important step, the Fall Peer to Peer is diversity-focused. Our authors come from diverse backgrounds and wrote on a variety of topics. We are thrilled to foster this community!
