that was used for integration, and while the API was
not fantastic, it was made to be functional. Upon
matter clearance, the MIW would create engagement
documents in the Document Management system,
move over any Engagement Letters, Outside Counsel
Guidelines, or any other related files uploaded during
the intake process, and then push data to the firm Case
Management, Docketing, and Accounting systems.
At the time of writing the MIW is still active and
in use over a decade after its launch and has processed
approaching half a million matters. Over that time,
many modifications have been made as situations
evolve and workflow needs change. Only now is it in
the process of being replaced with a more modern and
flexible system.
In future articles, I will continue to talk about
integrations with legacy systems and how we have gone
about extending their value. Immediately following I
