The Talent Council is a standing commiee
focused on the ongoing development of leaders within
the organization through programming, coaching and
mentoring efforts aimed at helping individuals develop
the knowledge, skills and aributes needed to serve as
an effective leader within ILTA and beyond.
While the first task at hand for the inaugural
Talent Council has been the biennial Board election
process, culminating in the presentation of a
recommended Board slate for ratification by the
membership, this is only one piece of the Talent
Council's responsibilities.
During one of our first calls, we each shared a few
characteristics we felt were important for ILTA leaders
to possess, and we had a great array of responses.
Integrity. Ethical. Strategic. Consensus-building.
Diverse. Selfless. Lifelong learner. Open-minded.
Visionary. Trustworthy. The goal of the Talent Council
is to identify ILTA members that possess these qualities
— or the ability to develop and grow these qualities —
and help them achieve their professional goals, which
also helps beer the association and membership as a
whole. It's a win-win-win situation.
In her book, "The Leadership Gap," executive
coach Lolly Daskal shares her view on the one thing
that sets the best leaders apart, and it is that they have
the ability to continually rethink who they are and are
always open to and are invigorated by opportunities
to learn and grow. The Talent Council is here for
you, and we hope we can play a role in your ongoing
professional journey of continuous learning and
growth while we, too, continue to learn and grow as
