Access a deep-dive white paper on the subject at office365intranets.com. What about extranets? Office 365 has a whole set of sharing capabilities that make it possible to share with external clients, partners and vendors. Extranets built with Office 365 are easier to share, require less effort and upfront planning and, like intranets, receive new features from Microso on a continual basis. With new features being released regularly that make administration and external collaboration easier, it is no wonder so many organizations are shiing their external work into Office 365. However, just because you can use the external sharing features on Office 365 does not mean you should. In addition, it might not satisfy all of your external sharing needs. If you are considering implementing an extranet or using the external sharing features, do your research. Tip: Everything you need to know about Office 365 external sharing can be found in a white paper at office365extranets.com. Your organization will need to work through many additional questions and decisions before implementing Office 365 to improve your success with the platform. Tip: To help you get started, review fasrack. office.com, a resource continually updated by Microso to help customers plan and transition to Office 365. Is Your Organization Technically Prepared for Office 365 and Matter Center? Being technically prepared for Office 365 requires carefully planning identities and authentication management. Maer Center is also dependent on certain additional solutions, such as an Azure subscription, for successful implementation. Here are a few questions to ask about your technology: » Are your users licensed on Office 365, including SharePoint Online/OneDrive for Business? » Are recent versions of Office that support apps/ add-ins available to users? » Does your organization have an Azure subscription? (This is necessary to host the UI and service layers for Maer Center, and to use a minor amount of Azure storage to maintain error logs.) » Does your organization have Azure AD Connect/ ADFS configured? Consider yourself technically prepared once you can answer "yes" to these questions. Does Your Organization Have a Plan To Migrate Content and Processes? Every organization moving to Maer Center for Office 365 will need to migrate documents and data. For many smaller firms or departments, the migration and process change can be handled manually; larger firms or departments must thoroughly consider the implications and coordination activities necessary for the transition. For a successful migration and transition plan, ask the following questions: » Do you understand the source data? Key considerations include how the data are structured (e.g., by client, maer or practice), how access is managed/maintained and the volume/ ownership of existing data. 2 3 Learn more about it at www.microsoft.com/ en-us/legal/productivity/ mattercenter.aspx. NOT FAMILIAR WITH MATTER CENTER? Matter Center is more valuable to organizations if they already use as much of the underlying platform as possible.
