Don't let the naysayers darken your view. The future of legal is bright, and
technology is lighting the pathway to improved efficiencies, lower costs, better
security and more. However, technology only takes us so far; a future-focused
community is required to ensure people take the right actions based on what
technology reveals. Exploring this idea further, we've asked a few of your ILTA
peers about the future. Here's what they had to say:
What future-focused technology could most improve
efficiencies in legal?
Brice: Wearable technology, such as smart
watches, Google Glass and Microso HoloLens, will
be able to help aorneys, especially in a courtroom
seing. They will get updates by looking down at their
watch or in front of them (wearing glasses) instead of
having to walk back to the table or perform research
aer the fact.
It also looks like the cloud and mobile
technologies will steer us away from everybody having
a laptop or a desktop, and they'll just have a tablet. As
tablets get beer, working on documents will get a lot
easier.
Ken: One technology that will bring efficiencies
is computational linguistics: the ability to take text and
analyze it at the semantic level. Imagine a computer
