ILTA WHITE PAPER: APRIL 2015 WWW.ILTANET.ORG 3 IG can be a complex and all-encompassing discipline that requires us to examine and address legacy issues, current-state assessments and technology developments while keeping our eyes on the changing legal and regulatory landscape. This white paper touches on all of those topics, with industry experts sharing their knowledge to assist in assembling key pieces of the IG puzzle. Our authors walk you through a comprehensive overview of information governance, what HIPAA means for law firms, governing client information, building a business case for IG that resonates with lawyers, how we, as outside counsel, can provide guidance to clients as they address their needs and execute on IG initiatives, and much more. Developing an IG strategy often starts with determining what keeps us awake at night. We're hopeful the insight gained as you flip through these pages helps you sleep a little more soundly. We'd like to extend a special thanks to the authors and their organizations for sharing their expertise and to ILTA's IG Peer Group Steering Committee for all their efforts throughout the year. We also thank all of you for your continued feedback on what you want and need to know. We welcome your expertise and encourage you to take advantage of ILTA's many volunteer opportunities! Leigh Isaacs Information Governance Peer Group Vice President FROM THE PEER GROUP Things continue to be exciting in the world of information governance (IG), and — as always — it has been our goal to deliver relevant and industry-trending programming.
