ILTA WHITE PAPER: JUNE 2014 WWW.ILTANET.ORG 28 There's no "easy button" in litigation support, but that hasn't stopped lawyers and law firms from trying to find one. About the Author Brett Burney is Principal at Burney Consultants, focusing his time on bridging the chasm between the legal and technology frontiers of electronic discovery. He is very active in the Mac-using lawyer community, working with law firms who desire to integrate Mac and iOS devices into their practices. Prior to establishing Burney Consultants LLC, Brett spent over five years at Thompson Hine LLP. He is a frequent contributor to Law.com and speaks around the country on litigation support, e-discovery and Mac-related topics. Contact him at burney@burneyconsultants.com. A Hybrid Approach to Litigation Support Many law firms are on a quest to standardize litigation support operations using a single software platform in-house, without considering the option of utilizing multiple tools and services. The right solution depends on many factors at a firm, but a hybrid approach to litigation support — one involving a cross between in-house and outsourced support — can be the most efficient and cost-effective.
