OVERHEARD ON E-GROUPS At this year's ILTA conference, I heard a lot of people mention they still weren't sure how to use Twitter. It's a tool I find very helpful for keeping up with trends in legal IT and training, as well as a variety of other topics. Try it, and create your own personal learning network! The site below has lots of great resources, including short videos on how and why to use Twitter. There are some items that will be especially helpful for trainers who might be interested in incorporating Twitter into a training program. Take a look at the Archive tab to find several short videos on how to use Twitter, both professionally and in education. The Resource List tab has some good tools and utilities for using with Twitter. I also reccomend using HootSuite for tracking/ posting to Twitter and other social media accounts. It is free to use, and there is a dashboard to view all your activity in one place. You can also "schedule" tweets to post in the future at designated times, so you don't have to be around to actually tweet at certain times. www.hootsuite.com David Netzer (@LitSptCareers on Twitter) of Litigation Support Careers http://bit.ly/twitterinedu A few ideas on how to get started using Twitter: •Search #ILTA13 on Twitter to see what people were discussing during the conference and find people you might want to follow. Add the hashtag for a session to your search (e.g., #USSPG3 or #KEY1) to view the pertinent points made. •Search #ILTA or #LegalIT to see what's going on in the legal IT community that is tweet-worthy. •Your Twitter stream is only as good as the people you follow. If you want to take a dip in the Twitter pool, try following a few of the people below to get a taste for what's out there in the legal IT community. These are but a few of the many great sources of information on Twitter! @atlblog @ILTAConf @LawTechNews @DKennedyBlog @ILTANet @legalerswelcome @Gartner_Inc @kevinokeefe @LegalIT @glambert @lawyerist @VMaryAbraham I recommend using Flipboard to read Twitter feeds. It really is a great app that makes it much easier to quickly read a bunch of tweets. It is a free app for Android and iOS devices. https://flipboard.com Beau Mersereau of Fish & Richardson P.C.
