MEMBER RESOURCES from the president T he focus on training and learning in this issue of our magazine is a perfect prelude to what lies before us at ILTA. The Board of Directors met in mid-November in Austin for the newest iteration of our cycle of strategic planning — it’s our attempt at creating a roadmap for the future of the association by taking the many things we’ve “learned” from our member community and paying that forward. It’s not hard to imagine that a strong spirit of volunteerism and our valuable trusted community of peers have taught us well. You’ll be hearing more about the plan and the goals we look to achieve in the months ahead. As we close 2010, it’s a time for reflection on the achievements of the past year. The recent restructuring of our peer groups, moving from 17 to 12, was one of the last strategic goals articulated in our plan from three years ago, and we believe that stronger, more inclusive programming will result from that change. We’re certainly keeping our eyes and ears open to your feedback. I congratulate the many volunteer leaders, most notably our Peer Group Vice Presidents and their Steering Committees, who have worked to achieve a very smooth transition for many of the groups. Our 2010 Technology Survey, the star of our annual publication calendar, reached your desk or inbox last month, and we’re hopeful this annual snapshot of our law firms’ technology landscapes helps to inform your strategic direction. You’ll be receiving our Annual Report very soon — it provides a look at our financial position following our annual audit, and it celebrates the many successes that the association enjoyed in 2010, successes that are a reflection of the talented membership that is ILTA. We look forward to achieving new successes and raising the bar ever higher next year. I wish you all happy holidays and a prosperous 2011!
