15 I L T A N E T . O R G working on custom reports or special data tracking needs. Frequent interactions with TK attorneys and clients help me do my job better and produce improved work product. Eating Your Own Dog Food Whenever possible or feasible, technologists using the applications or services they deploy to clients is an excellent idea. In my world, we do that by implementing internal change management, task tracking and project management software with our own technology. As actual users of our applications, we better understand user requests for functionality or uncover our own opportunities for improvement, all of which helps me, and our team, deliver a better product to our clients. Conclusion Investing human capital from attorneys or legal operations group which are diverted into a tech initiative is a tough business call to make. Client requirements on day-to-day work are vital and the forfeiting of a certain number of billable hours and time is not a decision to be taken lightly. But the ROI from the embedding and cross-pollination of employees between legal and technology is not a trivial amount. With tech investment and focus constantly increasing (meaning more important to client service and a larger percentage of law firm spend), the need to gain efficiencies in the technical project implementation process will only increase over time. ILTA Kenneth Jones oversees various aspects of technology at Tanenbaum Keale LLP in the role of Chief Technologist. He leads efforts to support TK's computing environment and infrastructure, one that features a strategy of professionally protecting and processing client data in the Cloud with highly skilled and respected leading-edge business partners in the technology space. Additionally, Mr. Jones helps lead and support various TK programs in the areas of security, compliance, business continuity and firm administration Welcome back for an all-new episode of Hopscast! Back for a Summer edition, this time round we are featuring Philadelphian sportsman and writer Dave Isaac.
