37 I L T A N E T . O R G storing content in the cloud has now become more secure than most on-premise environments. The cloud's superior security is due to built-in application security throughout the cloud providers' fabric, more investment in securing infrastructure, increased monitoring and patching abilities, and easier commissioning of new security capabilities. Long gone are the days of emailing a local copy back and forth amongst team members! Law firms' increasing comfort levels with and adoption of cloud technology represents a huge leap forward for the industry, and it mirrors a rapid shift away from vertical-specific solutions (i.e., dedicated legal solutions) to Microsoft 365, which most firms are already paying for, and selective add-ins. This approach allows firms to leverage the power and scalability of SharePoint Online and Azure, while having a more automated solution for proper capturing and filing that improves governance and compliance and drastically reduces the amount of time workers spend looking for information. Finding or discovering content you need to work on should not be a challenging, much less expensive, process. Metadata and properly filing and classifying content certainly help with this, but it still needs to be a simple and frictionless process. Utilizing a cloud solution that accomplishes the end goal, while including automation to simplify the process, provides a win-win for both the business and the end user.
