9 I L T A N E T . O R G G reetings! As a long-time member of ILTA with a varied history of volunteering, my new role as the 2020 Publications Liaison for the Program Planning Council (PPC) is very exciting – albeit a mystery to most members. My volunteering with ILTA has spanned the past nine years with the Litigation and Practice Support teams in their various formats. As most of you know, litigation support is a jack-of-all-trades role that deals with client data and also with law firm information. In my experience, it has been through the IT department, so I have worked closely with them to meet technology goals. Additionally, I have a diverse history of working for medium sized law firms (60-400 attorneys), corporate legal departments and even a Department of Justice litigation support contractor. Like everyone, I began my involvement with ILTA as a member working in the Midwest in litigation support at a time when there were no local peers with whom to commiserate, network and collaborate. ILTA provided a landing pad for me to meet others that worked in litigation support and other IT roles that were relevant to my work. My varied experiences provide a foundation to support publications from all content teams. The Publications Liaison role is fairly new to the PPC and is a resource for the content teams as well as authors and collaborators. As technical editor, I review articles related to areas of focus and PPC goals to ensure topics, relevance and timing are appropriate. When ideas are About the Publications Liaison Role submitted to the editorial calendar, we review them and work with authors to establish goals and if needed, find resources to collaborate on articles. As you may know there are a variety of publications ILTA disseminates throughout the year, including the Peer to Peer magazine, Content Team white papers, surveys, podcasts, blogs, newsletters and other electronic content. The Liaison position is situated perfectly as I have a voice with the PPC content team leaders, business partner authors, ILTA staff, and members. What are the Content Teams? Corporate, Knowledge Management & Marketing, Litigation & Practice Support, Practice Management, Security & Compliance, and Technology Solutions. What do I want everyone to know? Everyone can offer publication ideas, whether you want to author an article or provide a topic that you would like to see in a publication. We will review all submissions and vet the article ideas. Submit your ideas at https://www.cognitoforms.com/ILTA1/ArticleIdea. Cindy MacBean is Litigation Support Manager at Honigman LLP.
