CIPP offers four jurisdiction- focused certifications for the U.S. private sector, U.S. government, Canada and Europe. For compliance professionals, perhaps one of these: • CIPT – The Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) credential demonstrates the knowledge to build organizational privacy structures from the ground up, securing data privacy at all stages of IT product and service lifecycles. • CISSP - Earning the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) demonstrates you have the skills to effectively design, implement and manage an effective cybersecurity program. • CGEIT - Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) certification demonstrates experience, knowledge and credibility to implement and manage effective governance of all areas of technolo, as well as align IT with strategic enterprise goals. So what about me? Yes, I'm still an 'out of date no longer relevant Novell CNE' and hold various other application-specific certifications, but those certifications don't speak to my current role or expertise. I'm an Information Governance professional, but also a technologist. I've decided that in my role at my firm, a CIPT is more valuable than other potential certifications I could choose to pursue. My dad taught me that the measure of a day was if you learned something new.
