With over 50 different e-groups sharing knowledge, you can find a network of members to provide feedback on your specific area of interest. You may also search past e-group threads, and don't forget to provide input if you have expertise in a topic of discussion. To log on and participate, visit ILTA's website and click on E-Groups. Here is an e-group discussion that you may have missed: Farella Braun + Martel LLP scrow@fbm.com Treasurer Robert DuBois Subject: Backups Devine, Millimet & Branch, P.A. rdubois@devinemillimet.com RVP Liaison Meredith L. I just can't seem to let go of them after having them for so long, but they are difficult to maintain with the amount of data we have and the time and energy required. Do you use replication (to a single offsite repository) as your only backup method, or do you have multiple backups? Liz Groom Director of Information Systems McAfee & Taft eric.anderson@seyfarth.com Conference Liaison Steve Skidmore Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP skidms@mcblaw.com Executive Director Randi Mayes randi@iltanet.org We still use traditional backups on top of our SAN-to-SAN replication. What you will find is you can modify your backups and backup less. For instance, rather than backing up a whole SQL server (OS and all), backup only the databases to tape/disk while the storage gets replicated to the other side via SAN. If you need the server restored, go to the SAN. If you need to just recover a database, pull it from backups. In the land of DR/BC, you can't have enough options (as long as your budget supports it).
