The Problem
You know the drill: There are people
who have computer problems that
just do not go away. Outlook crashes
periodically; the computer blue screened
last week. You look through the Event
Logs for clues; you update drivers, make
some changes, disable some add-ins; and
maybe you even replace the PC. Things
seem better for a week or so but then the
problems come back. What to do?
It is important to know what you
do not know. How widespread are these
problems in your environment really?
People have a wide range of tolerance
levels for computer problems, and what
drives some people mad, others consider
a minor annoyance. Are some people
seeing issues and not reporting them?
How can you figure out which problems
are affecting most people?
We have been using a trifecta
of tools from Microsoft to get a better
understanding of what is going on with
our workstations.
