60 Encouragers, Teachers and Mentors, Oh My! B Y B R A D E LY N N B O Y C E - D E N D Y Naysayers: There have been times in my lifetime where I thought my head would explode if I heard one more time "not to worry my pretty little head over such things" or "girls don't do those kinds of things" or "you can't make it in that field, you're a girl." Seriously? There are no words sometimes to adequately express how many times some of us face negative feedback because of our gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc. It can really beat you down. But, it can also challenge you to prove them wrong, too! Naysayers can come in all forms – society, family, acquaintances, co-workers – you name it. Even you can be your own naysayer – playing those "tapes" over and over in your head of all the things "they" have told you – "what was I thinking trying to make it in this field?" Manager for Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, and a current active member of ILTA's Talent Council and an ILTA volunteer for over two decades. Bradelynn lives in central South Carolina and has three grown sons who have children of their own now. She very much enjoys her grandchildren and a variety of different very creative hobbies after many years of single parenthood. Her hobbies are varied and include acting, directing, video and commercial work, painting, reading, fishing and several other outdoor activities. Her volunteer work is currently focused on raising two therapy dogs and also includes working on a program of arts in the healing process.
