KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT 62 WWW.ILTANET.ORG | ILTA WHITE PAPER From Content Aggregation to Content Intelligence In order to give clients the best advice, law firms need to ensure that their lawyers are informed about the latest news, legal developments, decisions and deals - and that they keep an eye on the competition, too. Forward-thinking firms are taking content aggregation tools to the next level by providing content intelligence (CI) platforms. CI is a combination of business intelligence and content management that helps law firms leverage a vast amount of unstructured data and empowers lawyers to make strategic and tactical decisions. The primary benefit of CI is that it delivers personalized information to every person or team within an organization based on their particular focus and preferences. User features include real-time current awareness dashboards that give lawyers the ability to search across the entire data warehouse of the firm's premium subscription services and internet resources and allow them to create their own alerts. Additionally, by leveraging technology and the expert know-how of information professionals that is embedded into practice groups, client teams, industry sectors and market teams, law firms can publish curated enewsleers that are far more relevant and targeted to the specific needs of their audiences than automatically generated alerts. Actionable intelligence is also pushed directly to practice groups, client teams and industry intranet pages, as well as their lawyers' mobile devices. Lawyers can now keep up on a real-time basis with the latest relevant information that impacts their practice and clients, making them not only knowledgeable but also proactive in servicing their clients. by Steve A.
