We have a few comments on the results and then the rest is a presentation of the specific results. Demographics We hoped for a wide range of firm sizes, and that's what we got. Nearly half of all responses came from firms with 101-500 aorneys, and 23% came from firms with 100 aorneys or less. The remainder was split somewhat evenly between the firms with 501-1000 aorneys and the mega 1000+ aorney firms. Looking at how many offices were vying for marketing aention, 35% of responding firms have five or fewer offices (there were five firms with a single office), 24% have 6-10 offices, 26% have 11-20 offices and the remaining 15% have 21 or more locations. The response paerns around our collective use of marketing technology did not mirror these splits, indicating some level of marketing technology is in play across all size firms. This is more reassuring than surprising, because the more we all play in the same sandbox, the more we can learn from each other. Is there a "typical" or "best practices" marketing technology stack? One survey is not going to answer that, and the reality is that every firm really is different, so even if we use the same tools, odds are we are tweaking them for our firm. If we looked at the stack based on this initial data, it would look like this: » CRM: Lexis Nexis InterAction is still the leader here, but there were more than a dozen other tools named, so there are definitely more players in this space than in previous years. » Experience Management: one to watch – there's no real consensus on solutions and in fact the majority of respondents don't have an organized EMS at their firm. » Proposal Automation: another one to watch – the majority of respondents don't have a proposal automation system, but of those who do, Content Pilot and Qorus get the most mentions » Website: Responsive design has taken hold, and most of us have some form of search on our sites, but the similarities in features and maintenance end there. Slightly over half of all respondents plan some redesign in the next 12-36 months. » Event Management: there doesn't seem to be much traction for event management tools, but Vuture has the highest adoption. » Webinars: WebEx and GoToMeeting are the two most popular webinar systems » Competitive Intelligence: the top five named resources are JD Supra, Bloomberg Law, Thompson Monitor Suite, Hoovers, and Manzama » Marketing Analytics: For now, home-grown or free tools win this category, with big numbers identifying with things like Google Analytics, Excel and dashboards developed in house. The response patterns around our collective use of marketing technology did not mirror these splits, indicating some level of marketing technology is in play across all size firms.
